Steam engines Steam engines run on any kind of fuel. This web site calls it the most suppressed invention. Some interesting facts here as well as some nice modern steam engines. A small steam powered generator for your house would be a sweet setup. Next hurricane, when the power is out and gasoline is in short supply, you could power your house with junk mail, charcoal, or whatever flammable garbage you could scrounge up. But in addition to that he had many WAY AHEAD OF HIS TIME ideas and inventions like a tower that was being built in 1900 (Wardenclyffe Tower) that was going to transmit pictures, weather and financial market reports, and wireless electricity across the Atlantic (remember in 1900 broadcast radio wasn't even going on). A solar panel that works at night, radar, x-rays, particle beam weapons, a car that didn't need fuel (Tesla's black box) and too many other things to list. In spite of all this, Tesla died penniless and when he died in January, 1943, the U.S. Government seized his research papers.
